Pack Photography Showcase

Writer's picture: Lee WinderLee Winder

As I mentioned in the previous Villagers post, pack photography is a key driver customers to better understand what they're getting - especially when making an online purchase.

And with boardgames often containing a raft of different components, artworks, dice and boards even the most simple infinity white pack shots can look stunning.

One Deck Dungeon

One Deck Dungeon is full of colour - the transparent dice, the lovely resin art tokens (which I was luckily to get apparently) and the variety in the card art really help the content pop especially when you pull in close.

The infinity white background really helps highlight the content of the game and what the player can expect when it finally lands through their letter box.

Villainous - Perfectly Wretched

I've mentioned before that I love Villainous, and Steamboat Pete is one of my favourite villains to play so this was an easy one to choose.

With Villainous, the approach is slightly different. There's less in the box, but the content is so well known - from the characters themselves to the brand recognition of the Villainous board game itself.

Given the infinity white background, we can really make the content pop (I think I use the word pop a bit too often!), so I wanted to make sure "Villainous" and "Disney" were a key part of the pack photography, relying on that brand recognition.

Making that a key focal point of the first image really helps to pull in a potential player, wanting to know more about something they're already aware about.

Following that with a focus on the characters - and I would argue Pete and Mother Gothel aren't as well know while Cruella De Vil is iconic - players can instantly see what to expect and having the lesser known characters to the side, and the most instantly recognisable one in the centre, starts to draw the players eye onto something familiar before moving onto something less.
